Sittin on the Toilet (aka the King will hate the title of this post)

I'm not actually sitting on a toilet. I am, however, sitting at the next grossest thing. That would be the social security office. We are on number 434 and I am number 495. It's been a half hour.

When sitting at the social security, one finds themselves answering very important questions... Like:

1. Is changing my name REALLY that important?

2. Why did I even bother pre-filling out the form? If I had filled it out here, then I would have had something to do to pass the time.

3. Was all the gas and waiting here really worth the extra three days we won't have to wait for my card?

4. Why don't I have Mindy Kaling's book for The Book Club here?

5. Why does it smell like a toilet in here?

Like I said, REALLY important life questions are asked here.

So, here is to waiting in the social security office and for all of those who will come after me. Take my advice. It's worth mailing it in :)

Oh!!! And I got to see Katie Lou Dixon yesterday!! Made my week folks.

A Tale: In Which Kaylee Get's Real (with a capital "R")

Last Tuesday morning I woke up. It was the day our official honeymoon would end. I looked over and saw my amor, the King, sleeping. I whispered to him, "please, please don't make me go back to work." He grumbled something I'm sure was clever and rolled back over. I bravely threw the sheets off my body, stumbled into the shower, dressed in a whirlwind and then, laid back on the bed and said, "please amor. Please don't make me go." He kissed me in his sleep and said, "thanks for going to work today."

With that I mustered the bravery to drive into a job that I had only been at for a little over two months and had already grown to dread. As I drove into work, I was hit, once again, with the same feeling I had felt moments before when I begged the King to let me stay home with him; the feeling of something looming. I don't know why, but I had this feeling that something bad was about to happen. I shook the feeling off and continued to drive through the traffic towards what is now my worst nightmare.

I pulled into the parking lot, breathed in a huge breath, braced myself for another week back and walked in, with my head held as high as I could. The second my elevator doors opened and I could see our receptionist's face behind the frosted glass, I knew. I knew that the feeling I had earlier was about to come true. She said, "Jon wants to see you before you do anything else." I immediately though...

Am I about to be fired? I hope I'm about to be fired. Wait, no, not yet. I need to find a job first. THEN I can be fired. I think I'm okay with hoping that I'm about to be fired.

Jon was waiting for me. He said there was no easy way of doing this, especially since they all liked me so much. He said that I have been working really hard and that they saw how hard I was working and it was good work, but SHE just couldn't work with me. That, the fact that she couldn't work with me, is what stung. I have been working so hard to make her like me. I put up with her verbal abuse, her blame, her emotional mood swings, her straight up crazy. She COULD work with me... I was making that VERY easy for her. She was choosing NOT to work with me.

I shed a few tears (after all, I would have to come home and tell me brand new husband that I was now unemployed...), gathered my few belongings and walked out the door. I drove home in the pouring rain, feeling great that I was freed from the horrible situation I had been in for the past couple of months, but very sad that I would now be a burden on the King. As I pulled into the driveway, I saw a bright pink umbrella walking towards me.

"Hello, creature! Welcome back home. I love you."
It was all he said. And it was enough.

It's 9:30 at Night...

... and I'm sitting next to the King.

"I didn't blog today."
"Is it too late?"
"Well, I guess not..."
"What would you even blog about? We've been sitting in the house all day working and watching Lost. We'll need to start doing blog worthy things so that you don't have to write about that same thing over and over again."
And that, my friends, is how your husband helps you write your blog post. At 9:30 at night.

Over in the cottage, I am still jobless and I have been scouring the internet and Orlando for a job. The King has been working his tooshie off, but both of us being in the house all day has made it almost impossible for us to stay on task.
So, it's now 9:35 and I think I'll join my husband back on the couch (that was supposed to be a love-seat... but that is a whole other story) and watch at least three more episodes of Lost before we hit the sack.

After all... there is no way we will be able to do this same thing day in and day out for much longer. We might as well enjoy it while we can.
P.S. if you are:
Please email me at:
BrightandBeautifulBlog {at} gmail {dot} com
so I can send you your copy of Bloom. If I don't get it by Friday, I'll have to give it to the next person... and I would hate to do that to you!!!

This Newlyweds Thoughts on Married Life - Take 1

So we have been married a little over two weeks. Where does all of that time fly? It really feels like we got married yesterday and have little to no worries in the world... which is weird because I lost my job. Any we're merging two lives... and trying to make two people's thing fit into the 400 sq. ft. cottage we live in.
Somehow it is all working. Somehow we are being blessed. So far, we have all of our needs taken care of and our wants aren't being pushed aside.
It is cool being able to say, "goodnight best fwend," to him every night and he's right next to me... not on the telephone. It's even cooler knowing that he's got my back forever and I've got his. The best part (so far) is him letting me stay up late and watch, "just one more episode of Lost... PLEASE," knowing that it really isn't the last episode of the night and he could care less.
I know this is called the "honeymoon stage" and that this brand new marital bliss won't last forever, but gosh darnit, I am determined to make this last as long as possible. The King makes it easy. Therefore, I believe this whole married life thing is awesome. It is perfect. It is s'wonderful.
