A Few Things

I feel like I use that title so much that it might have to become a reoccurring post. I've also noticed that it happens once I've been out of town for a bit. We got back from our trip on Friday (after an excruciatingly long car ride) and Saturday I went with Christina to get her wedding gown. She bought it. After being engaged not even a full five days. Whoa. I promise I'll post more about Savannah and the rest of Alabama this week, but I have a few things I want to share.

1. The March Head Shots:

 

Once again, the beautiful Diane did a fantastic job. What should we do for April y'all? I was thinking a giant Easter Bunny Costume? What say ye?

2. The King and I (tee hee hee) had our engagement pictures taken yesterday by KimBe Photography. I cannot wait to show them to y'all.... once I get a look at them. I'm literally chomping at the bit. Well, really figuratively, but you know what I mean. Lets just say orange groves, bicycles and this house. Also, we went to see my parents after the shoot.

I was so excited to see my little niece (lovingly referred to as Master Tutiful) that I forgot that I left my cell phone in her car seat....until we were back in Orlando and my sister called me saying that she found my phone. EPIC fail. Not going to lie though, I kind of loved not using my phone while we were out of town last week. Totally hating that I don't have it now.

3. The most important part of this post. Joseph Kony.

On the Road Again...........

Not a long post as it is 10 pm and we just went trough Gainesville. Yes, I am still on the road. We left Boaz this morning around 10 am. It is only supposed to be a 10 hour car ride. We are now pushing 14 hours. This is most likely due to the stop at Noccalulla Falls and the hunt for the "epic" slide Joe remembered down by the river. We found it and what was epic was how not epic it is now as adults. That did not stop us all from going down it.

Check back Monday to see if we survived this car ride or if we ended up like the Donner Party. Happy weekend y'all.

Grandmother's House - Part II

Grandma and Jake's house is on 27 acres and has two lakes. This morning, Ben took me out on the big lake. He is so sweet and a great rower. After a walk through their fields we raked and burned more of the yard. This is thrilling right?! Right. It gets better.

This afternoon we went to a third cousin's thirty times removed (or something like that) deer farm. Not only are there like a GAZILLION deer, but there are two kangaroos, peacocks and elk. It was like our own personal petting zoo.

I feel like we did something else today.... Wait! Ben and I picked out our quilt that grandma made us. Pretty big deal! All in all it's been an amazing trip and I kind of fell in love with Alabama. I may or may not be coming home.

Tomorrow's 8 hour car ride, well, I literally shudder at the thought.

Oh! I remember the other thing... I became a Lumbar Jill today. It's the girl equivalent of a Lumbar Jack. Check it, yo.

Grandmother's House - Part I

Coming to you live from Boaz, AL, aka Grandma's House. It's been quite busy and exciting since we last chatted... Joe proposed to Christina just after we got here (now we all know why he was rushing us to get out of Savannah and wouldn't really let us stop to eat) and today we raked the leaves out of Grandma and Jake's yard. By that, I mean we tried and cleared a good portion, but there are months of leaves and a massive yard. We did burn a couple of piles. My city hands are killing me.

Tomorrow we head over to Chandler Mountain to see the cabin and canyon where the boys grew up. Last time I was there, the canyon and I had a fight, which I lost. Let's see if I remain victorious this year!

Where in the World???

Sorry for no post yesterday. I'm on spring break people. More specifically, I am sitting in the passenger seat of the car driving with the King and his court to grandmother's house in Alabama. We left sweet ole Savannah hours ago and we still have a few to go. So technically, I am merging from interstate 285 onto interstate 20 west of ATL. Here are some pictures from Savannah. I'll post more when I find some internet (which might be hard to come by in Boaz, AL. We'll see...) Have a fantastic day and know, from the bottom of my heart, that I'd really rather be where ever you are instead of on the road.

The Best of This Week

I cannot even tell you how wonderful this here thing called the internet is! It is such a great tool for good; it inspires creativity, fosters friendships and bonds, and allows us to gain information on ANYTHING!

I think I am starting a love affair with the internet. Please, don't tell the King. I wouldn't want him to feel jealous. King, if you read this, please know its completely platonic. I think....

So, after spending many a hours scouring the internet this week, here are a few of my favorite things:

1. Inspiration to be more hospitable and really incorporate the true love of Christ into our lives, found over here (or click the photo above).

2. I'm in love with this painting, called "Hope", by Lady Hue. I also love Lady Hue. Its from a series she is doing on infertility. Click here to purchase the limited edition print from her etsy shop.

3. House of Earnest shows you how to turn your plain old wooden spoons into something fabulous! I have the exact same wooden spoons from Ikea. don't be surprised if you come to the cottage this weekend and find me upcycling them.

Sometimes...

I watch guilty pleasures like One Tree Hill. Yes, it is still on. Yes, it is in its final season. Yes, I am sad.

I'm glad it's cold outside because it makes me feel like I live somewhere besides Florida. Wait, I live in Florida. And it is 80 degrees out. Definitely not cold, but I wish it were.

I wish I could just pay someone good money to do my actual job? No, I really would pay someone good money to come over and put my massive amounts of CLEAN laundry away. It is in a pile on my floor, blocking my way to my bed and my bathroom. Huston, we have a problem.

I love discovering unexpected movie gems like Bride Flight. It was recommended to me through Netflix and, just like clockwork, Netflix was spot on in their recommendation. 

I feel like a 5 year-old when the King brings me Gushers so I'll behave in Sacrament and not play on my iPad too much. Actually, when he bribes me with Gushers period.

I feel like it's one of the world's great injustices when someone cuts another person off in traffic and the person who was cutoff doesn't lay on their horn. No worries my cutoff friend, I'll honk AND point for you.

I write a blog post and realize that I probably read them more than anyone else AND I'm okay with that. Also, that I constantly misspell "have" to "ahve."

I feel inspired to be a better person when the yoga instructor sees that OBVIOUSLY this is only my second time doing yoga and she doesn't out me in front of the class. Instead, she encourages them to all close their eyes in a peaceful rest while she secretly helps me get into the poses. Yoga ninja skills at their peak.
